If you're experiencing computer problems or hope to avoid them, make it a habit to Restart, not Shut Down!

As misleading as it may be, Windows by default will only hibernate your computer when you Shut Down. It's a feature called fast startup, or hiberboot.

There is no harm in using Shut Down, but always reboot if your goal is to fix a problem you are experiencing to ensure that your computer starts up with a clean slate.
